Fish league in magazine Härjedalen is completed for 2019 and the winner was Långåfödde Håkan Selin in Hede who took home the prize by the bass he caught in Gangelsjön within lengthy fiskevårdsområde. Perch weight was just over 1,8 kilo, which decided the competition.

That it is large perch that Långåfisket offers is nothing new. Gangelsjön has delivered before as well as Grundsjön, Långåljusnan, lake resort, Synnaåsjön and Glumtjärnarna. Weights even over two kilos have been noted over the years and it seems that the perch weight gain is general in the fisheries conservation area. The so-called k-factor, thus the relationship between weight and height, has increased significantly in recent years. Higher water temperatures and good access to food are assumed to be the explanations for the perch.

Demand for perch fishing has increased significantly in recent years, as has demand for good pike fishing. This mainly applies to anglers from Central Sweden and the Mälardalen valley, but interest is also growing among anglers elsewhere. Most often it is about catch & release fishing, that is, you put the fish back unscathed.

Among the fishing methods, spin fishing for pike and perch is most common and dominates, but the number of fly fishermen interested in perch and pike is steadily increasing and becoming more popular. It's a cool experience to get a multi-kilo pike on the fly.
