Congratulations on the Great Meter Day! We can say that today according to the tradition associated with brand days. Great Meter Day is always on Ascension Day which falls between it 30 April and 3 June depending on when Easter falls. This day is considered the first day of summer, even though it varies over time. The same surprise may well apply to fishing. People's Sobriety Day is also celebrated now. Either way - it's meter day and this noble art which is often the start of a lifelong interest in fishing is of course worth celebrating. With an ordinary fishing rod in hand, the foundation is laid for what explains and consolidates the interest in fishing in all its shades and variations for a rich life.

Within Långåfisket, we welcome fishermen who want to use a completely ordinary one, long or short, fishing rod and catch their dinner that way. In some of our lakes it may be okay to use worm as bait, men i strömmande vatten är det hullinglösa flugkrokar som gäller. Att flugfiska med långspö kallades en gång i tiden för ’duna’; to 'duna' meant fishing in small streams and rivers with a simple rod made of strong root shoots from rowan or a purchased bamboo rod with a delicious dinner of brook trout until the evening.

The author Jan Tilliander, diligent visitors in Tännäs and Långå, has published a book on the subject, where many are attracted under the new-old concept of 'dapping'. Men det går naturligtvis bra att spöfiska från bryggkanten, the boat or the beach. Det är en naturnära upplevelse värd att rekommendera!
