Långå FVOF is a member of sport fishing's largest and leading organization in Sweden, Sweden's Sportfishing- and the Fishery Conservation Association, colloquially called Sportfishers with their roughly 60 000 members. For the past few years, it has also been possible for fisheries conservation areas to apply for membership in Sportfiskarna, and Långå FVOF seized on that opportunity right from the start.
One reason why Långåfisket wants to be part of Sportfiskarna is to 'stand side by side with those who are sport fishermen’ and it is possible thanks to the membership.
Långåfisket has been followed and noticed by the management of Sportfiskarna and at the beginning of June, Helge Jonsson was invited to hold a seminar with the management and functionaries of the association about how Långåfisket views the association's direction, service and development and at the same time describe the demands and requests that a fisheries management area can place on the association.
– The important thing for us is that there is a strong organization that monitors and represents the interests of sport fishing and works for good sport fishing throughout the country, says Helge Jonsson. We share the basic values, which does not prevent us from having different opinions on some substantive issues. The anglers have developed into an effective organization that has a good reputation where they need to be seen and be involved and influence. There is potential for developing relationships and cooperation with those around 2 000 fisheries conservation areas that exist in Sweden. Several of them already receive support from Sportfiskarna for biotope measures and law
The results of the seminar and some special questions will be followed up during the late summer.
