The problems with the low water levels that applied in the Grundsjömagasinet have meant problems for the reduction fishery with two Great Russians that are operated to reduce the whitefish stock for the benefit of the Grundsjörödingen. Fishing with Russians usually yields a couple of thousand whitefish. It is of course regrettable that it cannot be implemented, says Helge Jonsson, who is chairman of the Grundsjö project's board, but there is no other option due to the current conditions. Fishing with deep drift nets, which was carried out over three weeks in August, gave good results and is in itself acceptable with regard to overall plans even if the year's target is not achieved. Preparations are now being made for roe catching and release of fertilized char roe in places that are not laid dry during the winter's withdrawals of the magazine.
