Oförändrade card prices 2020

The board of Långå FVOF got the autumn 2018 tasked with coming up with proposals for new card prices because the prices have not followed the cost trend but have been unchanged for several years. Proposals for new prices would be determined by the autumn meeting 2019, i.e. the meeting whose task is to decide on fees for the coming year. A proposal had already been presented to the meeting in March 2019 with new fees and some structural changes.

Taking into account that fishing in the restored current stretches of Långåljusnan will be closed one year after the measures, the board suggested that new card prices should wait until 2021, which was adopted by the autumn meeting and means that the old card prices are applied for 2020.

The card prices for Långåfisket are based on several factors. We make comparisons with other fiskevårdsområdens variety of fishing grounds in no way compares to Långåfisket. It is not easy to make such comparisons because the variations are significant and there are no two identical water. But we do the best we can, says Helge Jonsson, Chair in long FVOF.

– Some complain that the price is too high and then we recommend that they travel there and fish in places where it is cheaper. Some claim that we do not recognize the "great fishing" we have and just do not get to get paid for what we offer. We try to explain to them that the minimum requirement for our pricing is that we can cover the year's costs and the commitments we have for various projects, for example the Grundsjö project, says Helge.

We have set up four requirements that govern the price of fishing licenses

  • Reasonable price level that gives everyone the opportunity to fish
  • Full cost coverage
  • High cost efficiency in operations
  • Recruited volunteers, unpaid contributions and public or private funds

No distribution is made to the owners, which is of course to the advantage of the person who buys a fishing license. With the investments made in Långåfisket, the value of a fishing license is approximately four times higher than the price. The unpaid efforts made by volunteers in the village would cost a lot 400 000 kroner if the association were to pay for the work.
