After five years of work, the Långåljusnan project reached its goals and that 12 June, Per-Ola Persson was able to sit by the levers in Jan Larsson's large excavator and put the last stone in place in the stream just above Skälningshån. The place will bear Per-Ola's name.
– It is an extensive work with very promising results and very important for life in the river and for sport fishing, says Per-Ola. The project is seen as a good example of how to restore biotopes and fishing waters despite the disadvantages of low water flow due to power production. It's gratifying. In addition, we have built in resilience to climate change, he says.
The investments comprise a total of approx 3,2 million and has been possible to finance through funds provided by the county administrative board, Hav- and Water Authority, Swedish Board of Agriculture and EU, the power of the power industry, the municipality and Sportfiskarna. Långå FVOF has invested half a million kronor of its own funds. The value of non-profit unpaid work is estimated at just over 500 000 kronor in total during the five years.
This summer's program also included measures in Gruckan that have been heavily rafted. Gruckan is a nice fishing water and important for natural reproduction of the local strain of Ljusnanöring. In one week, the measures were implemented there. Some sections have been retained as cultural relics from the flotation era.
The inauguration of the recreated power lines in Långåljusnan will take place in the summer 2021.
