This summer's reduction fishing for whitefish in Grundsjömagasinet has taken place according to the established plan with deep floating nets and two large Russian lakes.. The net fishing is finished while the two Russians are still in place until the end of October. The net fishing was carried out for two weeks at the end of August.
The measure is implemented to reduce the amount of whitefish in the Grundsjön and thereby give the Grundsjörödingen opportunities to survive in the long term. The immigrant whitefish does not work together with the char to the detriment of the latter.
So far 1 100 kg caught with an average weight of approx 400 gram. As before, it is Härjedalen municipality that takes care of the largest part of the catch for estimated dishes, served in school canteens and nursing homes. The catches decrease from year to year, which is a sign that the method is successful.
The Grundsjö project, which aims to preserve Grundsjörödingen for all time, is owned and operated by Fortum Sverige AB, Härjedalen, Långå FVOF, the county administrative board and Särvsjön's village community. Långå FVOF handles the contract.
